North Carolina is known as the Tar Heel State and the Old North State. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the population of NC was 9,535,483 (approx), the percentage of population growth was18.5% from 2000 to 2010.
The first North Carolina Federal Census was enumerated in 1790 and since then it has been taken every ten years. The 1890 National Census records of this state were destroyed in the 1921 warehouse fire, but the special Veterans and Widows schedules are known to have survived the fire. State Census of NC was performed only once in 1786 but the enumeration was incomplete.
